ObserMe and Exist
An Exist alternative for what no tracker can count
Exist brings your steps, sleep, calendar and weather together with things you log yourself, and looks for relationships between them. ObserMe does one narrower thing: it asks you questions during the day and keeps the answers.
The main difference
Exist is built around automatic data. It syncs from your phone, fitness tracker and other services, adds a daily mood and custom tags you enter, and runs correlations: what goes with your good days, when you’re most active.
ObserMe has no integrations and no correlations. Everything in it is something you answered, often at a moment you didn’t pick: a few times a day, at random, within hours you choose. That captures what sensors can’t, like where you’re working from, who you’re with or how you feel right now. The method is called experience sampling.
Where Exist does more
- Automatic syncing from your phone, fitness tracker, calendar and other services.
- Correlations, trends and a weekly summary email.
- Custom data points as a quantity, time period, 1–9 scale, percentage or time of day.
- Android, iPhone and the web.
If you want one place for all your numbers, Exist is designed for exactly that.
Where ObserMe is different
- Questions at random moments, not one review at the end of the day.
- Answers straight from the notification: yes or no, a number, or a 1–5 scale.
- Habit-style questions at a set time live in the same list.
- No streaks, badges or points.
- Free for now. Exist is $6.99 a month or $62.90 a year after a 30-day trial, according to its website.
Using both
They don’t overlap much. Exist covers what your devices already know; ObserMe covers what only you can answer. Some people will want both.
Good to know before you switch
- ObserMe is for iPhone and iPad only.
- It needs an account (email and password) and stores answers on our servers. The privacy policy explains how.
- You can export your answers as JSON at any time.
ObserMe isn’t affiliated with Exist. Details about Exist, including its price, come from its website and were checked in October 2026. Also compared: Daylio and Reporter.
Not on the App Store yet. For iPhone.
One email when it’s out. Nothing else.
